The Information and Privacy Office (IPO) ensures compliance with provincial privacy legislation, primarily the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (the Act) at the University of Alberta. The IPO handles formal requests under the Act for recorded information that is under the custody and control and of the university. The IPO also implements systems to protect the personal privacy of all individuals associated with the university. The IPO will:
• | Assist people who are looking for information about access or privacy; |
• | Respond to formal requests for information; |
• | Ensure the safeguarding of personal information records; and, |
• | Ensure the collection, use and disclosure of personal information according to the provisions in the Act . |
