Section 75.5 - Faculty of Education - University of Alberta

The Bachelor of Arts in Native Studies/Bachelor of Education Combined Degrees allow students to select either the Secondary or the Elementary program route. This degree program consists of 150 overall. The first three years (90) are taken in the Faculty of Native Studies and the last two years (60) are taken in the Faculty of Education. Students in these Combined Degrees may choose a Cree Major or a Native Studies Major in the Secondary route. Students who select the Native Studies Major in the Secondary route will become Native Education Minors in the Faculty of Education and will be required to identify an Education Major Teaching Subject (See Education Chart 1). Students are advised to refer to Education Chart 1 when selecting courses for their Education Major Teaching Subject. Students in the Elementary route select a minor in consultation with the Faculty of Native Studies and the Faculty of Education. The sequencing of courses taken in the program does not allow for much flexibility throughout the five years; therefore, students should plan their programs carefully. Students are advised to follow the prescribed order as closely as possible.
